USCG Centralizes Maritime Cyber Policy and Enforcement
The U.S. Coast Guard has created an Office of Maritime Cybersecurity Policy under CG-5PC to serve as its central authority for cyber policy across the Marine Transportation System. The new office will cover ports, vessels, and facilities, while also coordinating compliance, enforcement, and industry liaison.
In plain terms, the Coast Guard is moving maritime cyber oversight out of scattered guidance and into one office that can set policy and speak with one voice to operators and partners. That does not add a new technical control, but it does make the enforcement and compliance picture more unified for organizations that rely on Coast Guard-facing assumptions.
