Chrome 156 closes 353 flaws across desktop browsers

Google’s Chrome 156 stable release fixes 353 security flaws, including six critical and 61 high-severity issues. Google has not reported any of them exploited in the wild. The update is rolling out as versions 156.0.8078.47/.48 on Windows and macOS, and 156.0.8078.47 on Linux.

Memory-safety bugs make up most of the batch: 163 memory-corruption flaws and 125 use-after-free issues, where software accesses memory after it has been released. Depending on the flaw, the impact can include arbitrary code execution or information disclosure.

For teams managing Chrome across Windows, macOS and Linux, the exposure sits on endpoints still running earlier versions. The reporting gives no sign that this update reflects an active campaign or a broader compromise.
