The hard part in national AI defense is not the model. It is getting government and critical infrastructure to share live telemetry and let automated agents act on it without breaking trust boundaries.
The NCSC and DSIT are developing Cyber Shield as a national-scale, collaborative agentic-AI defense blueprint. It is meant to identify, reduce, and resolve cyber risk across government and CNI, and the plan explicitly depends on partnerships with frontier AI labs, cyber defense vendors, academia, and operators.
The shift is from AI experimentation to operational integration. The real constraint is access: if telemetry stays siloed or remediation still waits on manual approval, machine-speed defense will not keep up with machine-speed attacks.
