UK-hosted Joint Disruption Week brought 15 law-enforcement agencies and major tech companies together to disrupt scam compounds in Ghana and Nigeria, leading to 28 arrests, 303 devices seized in Sasaabi, and 117 suspected trafficking victims identified, officials said Tuesday.
The operation combined raids with platform data. Police hit the physical compounds while Meta, Microsoft, Google and others removed more than 3.7 million linked accounts, pages and groups used to reach victims, which cut off part of the fraud pipeline and helped expose who and where the hubs were.
That makes the story bigger than a set of arrests: these are hybrid crime sites, part trafficking compound and part online distribution network. If a trust-and-safety team sees account clusters tied to scam behavior, the same signals can also become law-enforcement intelligence, but account removal alone does not dismantle the underlying hub.
