SiteGuard flaw gives attackers root access to WAF servers

BleepingComputer reports attackers are actively exploiting CVE-2026-106931 in SiteGuard Server Edition, a web application firewall (WAF), to run commands as root or SYSTEM on affected servers.

The flaw is operating-system command injection: input handled by the product’s statistics feature can be treated as commands by the underlying system. Because statistics is enabled by default, administrators may be exposed even if they never deliberately turned on the function. Successful exploitation reaches the host itself, not just the WAF’s filtering behavior.

For teams with internet-facing SiteGuard deployments, not intentionally enabling statistics does not establish that the vulnerable path is absent. A compromised WAF server puts the underlying host in scope, not only the web traffic it filters.
