Boston Scientific Outage Turns Into Supply Chain Delay

Boston Scientific said its Aug. 25 cyberattack has moved beyond an internal IT outage and is now disrupting global operations, with order processing and customer shipments still affected. The company says it is still investigating and has not given a timeline for full restoration.

The incident hit systems the company uses to run business applications and fulfillment, so orders can stall before devices ever leave the warehouse. In practice, that means hospitals and distributors may see delayed deliveries for implanted-device and procedural supplies even if their own networks are untouched.

For readers who buy from or schedule around Boston Scientific inventory, the exposure sits in the vendor’s logistics chain: the outage can become a procedure-timing problem, and the remaining question is how long the backlog lasts once systems come back.
