Boston Scientific Attack Snarls Global Device Shipments
Boston Scientific said an Aug. 25 cyberattack is still disrupting its global IT systems, and the outage has halted customer order processing and device shipments worldwide. The company says it is investigating with outside incident-response help and has not given a timeline for restoration.
The disruption appears to be on Boston Scientific’s own business systems, not on customer networks. That means the immediate effect is delayed procurement and delivery of medical devices, with hospitals and clinics that rely on just-in-time supply feeling the pinch even if their own security is intact.
For buyers and operations teams, the blast radius sits in the supply chain: orders can stall, shipments can slip, and procedure planning can inherit the delay. What remains unclear is how long the disruption will last, and whether the incident will leave a longer inventory or fulfillment backlog after systems come back.
