The U.S. Justice Department, with Canadian and German partners, seized command-and-control infrastructure for four IoT botnets—Aisuru, Kimwolf, JackSkid and Mossad. Those botnets controlled more than three million devices and were used to launch record-size DDoS attacks and extort victims, including strikes against Department of Defense addresses. Servers and domains were taken offline; investigations continue and no U.S. arrests were announced.
