Non si tratta di un incidente locale né di un singolo impianto messo fuori servizio. Il punto è che sistemi OT esposti su Internet, e quindi il piano di controllo che governa pompe, lift station e visibilità operativa, sono stati raggiunti in più stati mentre molti siti continuavano a funzionare e l’impatto restava limitato.
Le segnalazioni confermano almeno sette stati coinvolti, con Minnesota come primo caso noto e conferme o indizi anche da Michigan, South Dakota e Georgia. Le fonti parlano di attività malevola su PLC e sistemi di controllo di Siemens, Schneider Electric e Rockwell Automation; in diversi casi gli operatori hanno detto che l’acqua è rimasta sicura e che non c’è stato un impatto pubblico immediato.
Il rischio non è l’interruzione visibile, ma la capacità di toccare infrastrutture OT condivise e raggiungibili da remoto su più siti. Per chi gestisce acqua e acque reflue, la lettura corretta è una campagna ancora in corso contro il controllo industriale esposto, non un episodio già chiuso.
