Rank Math riferisce che alcuni pacchetti di Rank Math PRO v3.0.123 distribuiti tra il 15 ottobre 2026 alle 20:02 UTC e il 16 ottobre alle 07:12 UTC contenevano malware. Chi ha attivato il plugin in quella finestra può avere un sito WordPress compromesso e un accesso persistente lasciato agli attaccanti.
Il malware può ricreare una backdoor nascosta a ogni visita di pagina: cancellare o reinstallare il plugin, quindi, non garantisce di rimuoverla. Può anche modificare file, temi, voci nel database e attività pianificate, compresi elementi fuori dalla cartella WordPress e in percorsi scrivibili dall’account del server web.
Per le installazioni attivate nella finestra, la compromissione può estendersi dal plugin al sito e all’host. La versione pulita 3.0.124 non basta, da sola, a dimostrare che l’accesso degli attaccanti sia cessato.
